Permanent Makeup
PMU is the abbreviation for Permanent Make-up. With permanent make-up or PMU, pigments are introduced into the dermis. This is the layer of skin directly under the epidermis. It is similar in technique to tattooing, but the purpose is different. A tattoo is 'put' in a deeper skin layer and is therefore permanent. PMU, on the other hand, is not permanent but fades over time about 2/3 years. The speed at which this happens varies from person to person.
